Chair Judge Colin Doherty

Judge Doherty was appointed Chair of the Authority by Parliament in August 2017 for a five year term.

Judge Doherty has extensive judicial experience. Over the past 15 years he’s held a number of senior administrative positions in the District Court judiciary. 

Prior to joining the IPCA he was the National Executive Judge of the District Court of New Zealand.

Judge Doherty is a District Court Judge, an Alternate Judge of the Environment Court and a Justice of the High Court of the Cook Islands. He previously served as an Associate Judge of the High Court of NZ and a Justice of the Supreme Court of Samoa.
