Family harm complaint against officer partially upheld

25 February 2026

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a complaint from an officer’s former partner regarding several alleged family harm incidents which she said occurred over the course of their relationship.

Police investigated and found there was sufficient evidence to charge the officer in respect of three of the alleged incidents.

The officer appeared in Court in early 2025 where he was acquitted of two of the charges and the third charge was withdrawn.

Police subsequently completed an employment investigation which found some of the complainant’s allegations were upheld and the officer’s behaviour amounted to misconduct.

The Authority is satisfied with Police’s investigations into this matter and agrees with the outcome reached.
