Off-duty Police officer accessed Police database inappropriately

1 April 2026

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation after a Police officer disclosed to his supervisor that, while off-duty, he had accessed the Police database to check for safety alerts before accompanying a family member to confront someone they suspected of theft.

The officer was already on restricted duties because of other unrelated allegations against him.

He resigned from Police before this investigation reached a conclusion.

The Authority is satisfied with the Police investigation.
