The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into allegations that a sergeant investigated the theft of his son’s moped. The sergeant initially reported the theft of the moped to Police on 105. While off duty, the sergeant conducted his own enquiries, accessing and updating the Police database, visiting addresses and speaking to suspects.
The Police investigation found that the sergeant had breached several aspects of the Police Code of Conduct, Values and Police policy, including protecting information and managing conflicts of interest.
The Authority is satisfied with the Police handling of this matter and agrees with the outcome reached.
