Employee breached Police Code of Conduct when they failed to advise of a new criminal conviction

3 September 2025

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a notification from Corrections that a Police employee based at National Headquarters had recently pleaded guilty to dishonesty-related offences and had been convicted.

The offending occurred at the employee’s previous place of work. At the time it was discovered, they had already begun their employment at Police.

The employee was charged and pleaded guilty but failed to notify their current employer, the Police, which is a breach of the Police Code of Conduct.

Police conducted an employment process and found that the employee had engaged in serious misconduct.

We agree with this finding.
