Historic allegation of sexual misconduct against Police officer not upheld

18 December 2025

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a complaint that a now serving Police officer abused their former stepchild more than ten years ago, before the person was a Police officer.

Police investigated and found there was not enough evidence to prove a charge beyond reasonable doubt.

The subsequent Police employment investigation was not completed due to a lack of sufficient evidence to establish grounds for disciplinary action. Police sought external legal advice to be sure that the process was robust and thorough.

The Authority agrees with the findings, outcome and actions taken by Police.
