Officer breached Police policy by searching information about himself in Police intelligence system

26 August 2025

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into an allegation that a Bay of Plenty officer conducted searches using the Police National Intelligence Application to gain information for his own use on an incident that occurred at a house he owned and on a vehicle registered in his daughter’s name.

Police completed an employment process and found that the officer had breached both Police policy and their Code of Conduct.

The Authority agrees with this outcome.
