Northland-based Police employee cleared of alleged shoplifting

4 August 2025

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a complaint alleging that a Police employee shoplifted from The Warehouse.

Police conducted a criminal investigation and determined there was insufficient evidence to charge the employee, who denied any dishonesty.

Police then completed an employment investigation and found the allegations to be not upheld.

The Authority agrees with these findings however we believe that important enquiries were not completed at the initial stages of the investigation that may have impacted the final outcomes.
