The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into an allegation an officer attempted to pervert the course of justice in her actions regarding breaches of electronic monitored bail.
The Authority is concerned by the delay in reporting the allegation as this delay led to the Authority being unable to oversee the criminal investigation and ensure all essential matters were covered.
The criminal investigation found that there was insufficient evidence to charge the officer with either perverting the course of justice or accessing a computer system for a dishonest purpose.
The subsequent employment process found the officer’s actions amounted to a breach of the Police Code of Conduct.
The Authority agrees with these findings.
