The Authority oversaw a Police investigation where an off-duty, intoxicated officer instigated a fight with a group of people in a bar on the Auckland waterfront, on 26 February 2021. During the incident, the officer showed his Police identification to security staff to enable him to re-engage with the group and was verbally abusive and uncooperative with attending officers. The officer was subsequently charged and pled guilty to two charges of assault.
The Authority agreed with the findings of the Police criminal and employment investigations. The officer resigned from Police before receiving an employment outcome.
