The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into an allegation an officer unlawfully arrested and searched a man in January 2021. Concerns were also raised that the officer behaved unprofessionally in his dealings with Crown Solicitors and provided inconsistent evidence during a subsequent Court hearing.
The investigation found the officer’s actions in arresting were unlawful and breached Police values and the Code of Conduct. Prior to the investigation concluding, the officer resigned.
The Authority is satisfied with how Police conducted this investigation and the conclusions they reached.
