Police National Headquarters: Police staff member guilty of harassing ex-partner

31 June 2023

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a complaint where the complainant had been receiving harassing correspondence from unknown e-mail addresses, phone numbers social media profiles; they believed their ex-partner – a Police staff member - was the person behind this.

Police investigated the matter and determined the staff member had sent the correspondence. Police charged the employee with causing harm by digital communications and family violence offences. The staff member pleaded guilty to all charges during court proceedings and the staff member resigned during the subsequent employment process.

The Authority is satisfied with the Police investigation and resulting action.
