The Authority oversaw a police investigation into the allegation that an officer used excessive force to detain a youth under the provisions of the Education Act.
At the conclusion of a criminal investigation Police determined the officer’s actions did not amount to an assault, therefore no charges were laid. The officer’s decision-making was addressed by a confidential employment outcome.
The Authority does not agree with the conclusion that the officer's actions did not reach the threshold for prosecution but does agree a robust employment outcome was warranted to explore the reasonableness of the officers’ actions.
