Police officer in Auckland posted inappropriate videos to his social media accounts

21 November 2022

The Authority received a notification that an officer in the Auckland District had posted several inappropriate videos to some of his personal social media accounts. According to the officer, the content of the videos was meant to be humorous; but the videos lead to several complaints about the offensive nature of the content in that it was either: racist, misogynistic, or sexually inappropriate. In one of his videos the officer identified himself as a member of Police.

The Authority oversaw the Police employment process which found that the posting of videos brought Police into disrepute. This resulted in an appropriate employment outcome.
