Police employee charged with drink driving and allegedly drove a second time while intoxicated

11 November 2021

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation where an off-duty Police employee drove while over the breath alcohol limit. Police charged the employee, and he received an appropriate employment outcome.

While overseeing the first incident, the Authority received notification the same employee had allegedly driven while intoxicated again. In this instance the employee left his vehicle at a service station. Police found the man at his home three-and-a-half hours after he had been seen allegedly driving while intoxicated. Police did not charge the employee as they had insufficient evidence.

The Authority is satisfied there was insufficient evidence for a prosecution. The employee resigned during the employment process.
