Police employee pleads guilty after road rage incident in Canterbury District

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a complaint that an off-duty Police employee assaulted a driver in a road rage incident in the Canterbury District.

Police undertook a criminal investigation and charged the employee with common assault and careless driving. Following a plea of guilty, the District Court ordered compensation to the victim and the employee was discharged without a conviction.

Police applied an appropriate outcome following an employment process.
