Officer in Auckland knocks over a cyclist causing a significant injury

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into an allegation an officer in Auckland had driven into a cyclist who was hospitalised as a result. The criminal investigation resulted in him being charged with careless driving causing injury to which he pleaded guilty, and the complainant received reparation.

The officer's conduct was dealt with through an employment process which resulted in an appropriate outcome.

The Authority agreed with the outcome and the actions taken.
