Police officer in Waikato accused of sexually assaulting a colleague

30 November 2020

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into an allegation a police officer in Waikato indecently assaulted a colleague in an off-duty incident. During the course of the Police investigation, it was discovered the officer had also inappropriately accessed the Police national database to locate the woman's address.

The Police investigation found that while there was insufficient evidence to charge the officer with a criminal offence, it was agreed there had been some unwanted touching.

Both matters were dealt with by way of a confidential employment process. The Authority agrees with the outcome
