Police lose item of property handed in by member of public

16 December 2020

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation following the discovery that an item of property handed in by a member of public to a Southern District Police Station had gone missing prior to being returned to the owner.

The investigation was unable to identify any wrongdoing by any individual. A review of the station's property handling policy was also completed. A number of recommendations to improve property handling processes have been accepted by the District and are due to be implemented.

The Authority agrees with the policy review and recommendations made.
