The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into an incident in September 2018, in which a Bay of Plenty officer caused a vehicle collision, and injured another officer. Police conducted both criminal and employment investigations of this incident. The officer was charged with Careless Driving Causing Injury. He was subsequently found not guilty. The employment investigation identified breaches of Police policy and Police sanctioned the officer for these breaches. The Authority is satisfied with how the Police conducted their dual investigations and the outcomes they reached.
