Officer misled colleagues about using a Police vehicle for personal travel

16 October 2019

In January 2019, contrary to Police policy, an officer from the Counties Manukau District used an unmarked Police van for personal travel while his own vehicle was being repaired. The officer initially denied having the van when asked by a colleague and thereafter by his supervisor. He subsequently admitted using the Police van without permission.

Police commenced an employment investigation and the officer resigned during this process. The Authority is satisfied with the Police response.
