Allegation an officer in Auckland looked up a woman he knew on the Police database and then drove to her address to speak to her

30 January 2024

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into allegations a Police officer looked up the address of a woman he was at school with on the Police database, and following this, went to her address to speak to her.

The investigation found that the officer had not been aware of the woman’s identity when the database checks were made, and he had not deliberately driven to her address but had just seen her near her address while he was carrying out his Police duties.

The Authority agrees with the Police findings.
