Allegation of perjury by officer not proven

5 February 2024

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into an allegation that a Police officer in the Wellington District had lied while giving evidence in three court cases.

Police found there was insufficient evidence to charge the officer with perjury, and that the officer had been under-prepared while giving evidence in court. Police undertook an employment process and provided additional support and training to the officer. The Authority agreed with this outcome.
