The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a notification from Wellington District about a Police officer who made an unlawful arrest and used excessive force against an individual who they mistakenly identified as another individual. The Police investigation found the officer was not criminally liable for his actions. However, an employment process found the officer’s actions breached the Police code of conduct, and they were sanctioned for their actions.
The Authority agrees with the employment outcome.
