Off-duty officer charged after assaulting a person in Counties Manukau
The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into an incident at a café where an off-duty officer shoulder charged someone before pushing the person into a wall and placing his hand around their throat.
The investigation determined the officer’s actions were unlawful and the officer was charged with assault. This matter has been resolved in court.
An employment process was then conducted which found the officer breached the Police Code of Conduct and the officer received an employment outcome.
The Authority is satisfied with the Police investigations and outcomes.
