A woman reported a PayWave fraud totalling $1400 to Police. She gave Police CCTV footage showing the offence occurring, in addition to stills of the potential suspects and their car number plate. However, Police filed the report, telling the victim to contact her bank instead.
The Authority asked Police to re-open the file for investigation given there were possible lines of enquiry. Police re-opened the file to be assigned for further investigation and apologised to the complainant.
