A woman made a report to Police and, after seeking updates several times, complained to the Authority about Police's failure to communicate.
When the Authority asked Police about the lack of contact, it was discovered the officer who originally received the report had not entered it into the Police database before going on leave. This meant when the victim called Police for an update, those staff could not find her original report.
The Authority asked Police to remedy the situation. They contacted the woman and apologised to her, explained how the delay occurred, and spoke to the officer responsible to remind him of the importance of entering reports and contacting victims.
