Police officer convicted of careless driving in Hastings

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation where a Police officer conducted a u-turn while driving on duty in Hastings. The Police van collided with an oncoming vehicle causing minor injuries to one occupant.

The officer was convicted of careless driving in Hastings District Court and suspended from driving for six months. Following this outcome, Police completed a disciplinary process with the officer. Police also re-assessed his driving to ensure he was fit to drive.

The Authority agrees with the Police findings and outcome.
