Allegation of rape against Police officer not established

8 June 2022

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into an allegation that a Police officer raped a woman in her home after the pair met earlier in the evening.

The officer said the sexual encounter with the woman was consensual and the investigation found a number of significant discrepancies in the woman’s account which questioned her veracity. The investigation did not establish any criminal offending by the officer involved.

The Authority agrees with the investigation findings and outcome.
