Waikato Police apologise after failing to update their records

23 May 2022

A person complained to the Authority that after Police found and returned his car to him, they still had a “stolen vehicle” alert on it which meant he couldn’t register the car in his name. He also had not heard from Police regarding their investigation into his car being stolen.

The Authority asked Police to remove the stolen vehicle alert from the car which they did. We also asked Police to contact the complainant, and they called him and apologised for the delay in updating him on the progress of the investigation and explained why this occurred. The complainant was happy with Police actions.

The Authority is satisfied with the outcome.
