Officer allegedly behaved inappropriately on social media

7 September 2021

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation into a complaint alleging that an officer in Bay of Plenty District sought naked images from a woman he had contacted on social media and took inappropriate images of himself while working.

The woman sent the officer one lewd image of herself that did not show her face. Later, when the woman confronted the officer about his marital status, he allegedly threatened to share their social media exchanges.

After being interviewed by Police, the woman chose not to take the matter any further and the officer resigned from Police before the Police investigation was completed.
