Police change their response to a hit and run incident in Auckland City

16 November 2020

A person called 111 after being involved in a road rage incident where she was hit by the other vehicle. While Police attended at the time, there were delays in Police trying to locate and speak to the other driver about the incident.

Following discussions with the Authority, Police reviewed their file and identified several flaws in the initial investigation process. Police apologised to the complaint for the service she had received and the delays.

Police also reviewed their initial charging decision and laid new charges, which more accurately reflected the seriousness of the situation.
