Officer accused of disclosing information relating to the sex offender register

23 December 2019

The Authority oversaw a Police investigation of an officer in Gisborne accused of unlawfully disclosing details of an individual's criminal conviction.

There was insufficient evidence of an unlawful disclosure to establish any criminal offence had been committed by the officer.

The officer was dealt with through a confidential employment process.

The Authority agreed with the outcome of the Police investigation.
