Allegation of Sexual Violation against a Police Officer

12 December 2019

In December 2018 Police notified the Authority of a complaint of sexual violation made against an off-duty police officer.

Police conducted a criminal investigation which focussed on the issue of consent. After taking legal advice, Police decided there was insufficient evidence to charge the officer.

Following the criminal investigation, Police conducted an employment investigation which resulted in an employment outcome.

The Authority reviewed both Police investigations and agreed with the findings and outcomes.
