Allegation an officer in Waitemata District had been harassing a family

26 November 2018

In October 2017 the Authority received an allegation that an officer in Waitemata District had been harassing a family. The family advised this had caused their children embarrassment as their school had been contacted by the officer who made an allegation one of the children was using illegal drugs.

The Police conducted an investigation into the matter and found there was not enough evidence to support an allegation of harassment, but agreed the officer had breached two internal Police policies. This was dealt with as an employment matter.

The Authority reviewed the Police investigation and agreed with the Police findings and the subsequent action taken in respect of the officer.
